choices

Having a four and a half year old, I am very aware that being able to make choices are no small thing.  They are, in fact, what lets the body breathe.  Without option, without choice, we are limited to idea imagined by another.

What an awful existence.
I know too well the fear associated with following one's own true path, even if it is not shared with associates.  Silence or inner rejection fill the mind reminding you once again... you're not what they want.  Well who is "they"?  A collection of people.  I caught myself more often than not disapproving of their choices.  Makes creating and photographing one's self that much more exhilarating.  I'm not used to showing myself the way I see myself.  Blogging, as it turns out, happens to be a simple means of expressing what I consider me.

Worst Critic (part deux)

I think being the artist means you're supposed to be your worst critic. I know when I like something, and I know when I don't, and I know when I'm torn. With this "blueberry ring", I'm torn. I'll preface this post by saying I am in NO WAY, fishing for compliments. In fact, if you're a lovely reader of my blog and like this ring, you merely have to write: "yay" or "thumbs up" or "4 stars Siskel and Ebert". I don't need compliments.
I finished this ring last night and it wasn't until it was all put together that something about it was throwing me off. I showed my husband (as I show him everything I do after it's completed) and he too was taken aback by... something. I wonder, what do you think, dear reader? Is this a great ring? Or do you too find it... off?
Please respond if you read this post. It would help me to decide if I should put this ring in my shop or not. I'm very very picky about what goes in there. So even this slight hint of "hmmm?" will postpone it's shop arrival.

Thank you :-)

Mound of Prehnite

Bubbling out of its setting is this HUGE light green prehnite stone. I'm sure Ms. Joanna (best friend) is drooling right about now. This ring was just a joy to make. I really took my time, making sure the scalloped bezel matched for a continuous flow through the ring, I filed meticulously, and finally, the fit is very comfortable. Size 8, for middle or index finger wear.

My hands are looking older. I'm getting those wise lines everywhere. ;-)

Paisley's and Pink

What's with my fascination with the color pink lately? Perhaps it's spring. Spring does strange things to a woman. Our brains wake up, we see colors vividly, take deeper breaths, and wear our hair down so the wind can whip through it. Where are my dresses? Find a brilliant barrette, I'm feeling girly!

Overflowing

I've never worked with a stone so big. This is natural druzy. It's weight is tremendous! I decided since the stone wasn't touched that the silver shouldn't be either, so everything about this ring is in it's natural state. The stone itself has a pink hue, very feminine. The ring has been buffed to a matte finish. I think I'll call her Grandma's Pride.
